Amplitube 5 remaining lifespan. [Resolved]

Postby Kaleofr » Fri Dec 31, 2021 1:18 pm

Dear All,

I'm a beginner (1 year more or less) in guitar.
I enjoy AT5 SE for now and I'm thinking about upgrading to MAX.

But of course, the question is: "How long before a new Amplitube 6?"
The upgrade is quite expensive for a non professional player so I would not see a new version shortly after this investissement.

Thanks for your feedbacks.

Kaléo.

Not sure what IK's product roadmap looks like, but version 4 was around for a long time. I wouldn't worry about it, version 5 is only a year old. I would expect at least another two years before you see an Amplitube 6.

No-one know when AT6 will be released. I do not recall IK Multimedia announcing release dates in advance, but only when a pre-order period of a month or so starts.

But AT5 will run on your hardware / OS for ever. When AT6 is released there may well be a free edition that loads all your AT5 gear models. And maybe an Introductory prices (for Upgrades too).

For comparison, these are (I think!) these years in which numbered AmpliTube updates were released:
  • 2002: AmpliTube
  • 2005: AmpliTube 2
  • 2010: AmpliTube 3
  • 2015: AmpliTube 4
  • 2021: AmpliTube 5
I might have misremembered some of those by a year, but it's close!
So, anyway, roughly 5 years between releases seems a reasonable estimate. (The 6 years between 4 and 5 was probably exacerbated by the pandemic.) AmpliTube 5 is just barely a year old, so I would expect to see models, features, and incremental improvements added to it for a good while before there's much need to think about AmpliTube 6, probably not until around 2026ish.
