Ok, thanks - probably better to keep the option of having both just in case.

The new advanced EDIT feature is only unavailable for Syntronik 1 legacy presets. The new 'Syntronik 2' presets for the original 22 synths work in the new EDIT control panel. All the original Syntronik 1 synths work fine in the new Syntronik 2 interface, exactly as they did before.

You have to go to the 'My Products' section of your account on the IK Multimedia website. Copy the serial number of Syntronik 2 CS, after that open up the IK Product Manager app, then click ‘Manage My products’. Tap on the red + Register Product bar at the top right, paste in your serial number and that’s it!

I think it is worth waiting a little bit before you remove Syntronik 1 (also it is a separate plugin so any previous projects will no longer have access to it).

On the topic of the original synths from Syntronik in Syntronik 2 we are happy that new presets are welcomed and being enjoyed but I don't think it is clear (our fault, if we're being honest) that those original synths were also upgraded. It isn't just the "old" synths + some new ones, the previous work well in the new engine because they too have been upgraded.

It's similar to how the AmpliTube 4 gear sounds amazing in AmpliTube 5 and honestly a bit more of a jump (though AmpliTube 5 is incredible a jump).

I already uninstalled Syntronik 1 since Syntronik 2 does basically the same thing with the inclusion of the new synths. I did notice though when comparing the two Syntronik 1 has more well defined less blurry graphics when it comes to the synths themselves (as in when you press the synth beside the preset name and you can actually see the synth to tweak it). So like Dark Star pointed out, maybe some may want to keep it around. However for me personally, the slight differences are not enough to keep both. I am a plug-in junkie and have accumulated quite a few at this point, so I am always looking for ways to cut down excess when possible and save space.

The problem of having used Syntronik 1 in previous sessions may be quite a hassle to deal with as well if one goes back and revisits the sessions after uninstalling it. As for me, since I have everything named and detailed in my sessions, I can just insert the new Syntronik 2 plug-in and quickly call up the factory preset or user preset I used in the session. So that is not a big problem in my situation.
