Cinematic Percussion install issues [Resolved]

Postby mscheurer » Wed Oct 13, 2021 5:49 am

To start off, my sample drive failed and needed to be replaced, not a biggie as I had a full back up. So now I have a nice spiffy SSD. All of my libraries, including the SampleTank 4 ones have no problems with the new drive and drive name but when I try to install Cinematic Percussion it gives me a Java error:

Uncaught Exception:
Error: EACCES: permission denied, mkdir '/Volumes/MSC-TerraRug/3-Samples/Sampletank/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 3/Library Info'
at Object.mkdirSync (fs.js:925:3)

I never had Sampletank 3 installed so I can't change the sample location! Is there a file that I can edit anywhere to reflect the new path?

I got around it by temporarily renaming the drive but it's not a permanent fix.

Edit: Renaming the drive doesn't work, the installed library is locked...

I am sorry to hear about the problems you are running into.

As this is primarily a user to user forum, someone-else may chip in. But please remember that the same symptoms do not necessarily mean the same problem.

Meanwhile, the best thing to do is Search the FAQs first, via here. If they do not resolve the issue, there is a red button link to the Technical Support form, for some one to one investigation and help.

Response time aims to be within 2 working days (US (East Coast) Business hours, generally), but in the current circumstances please allow some more time.

----------------------------
And, to help others who run into a similar problem, please let us know what you did to resolve the problem. Please do not quote directly any correspondence from Support, as that may apply only to your particular circumstances and may lead others down the wrong track

Solved, it appears it's a problem with Product Manager...

Install using "Install To" available from the libraries Options button, then authorise using the old Authorization Manager rather than PM and the library magically unlocks.

Not the first time authorising with PM didn't work, seem there is a lot of stuff that needs fixing in Product Manager!

Good oh :). I am glad that you have got it sorted out.

Thinking back I had the same problem with Neil Peart Drums. I could install it using IKPM, and Register the Serial Number and "Restore my purchases" in the Custom Shop. At that point I think it did load OK in ST4, but not in ST3.

Right-clicking the padlock over the Neil Peart drums library icon in ST3 just took me to the Custom Shop again (where everything looked OK). After going round in circles for a while, I found the old Authorisation Manager, ran that and entered the NPD Serial Number there. Success :). I would think that the same is needed for all ST3-based libraries, until the IKPM is updated to handle them fully.

So my standard tips are now:
-- Register the Serial Number in the IKPM,
-- Restore your purchases in the Custom Shop,
-- if needed, Authorize the product in the Authorization Manager.

PS, If you add the path to your Cinematic Percussion library to ST4's Preference settings /Sound Content you can use the sounds in ST4 too.
