White Noise in AmpliTube 5 [Resolved]

Postby alexfwalker10 » Fri Mar 19, 2021 12:09 pm

I imagine this must be something to do with how I've got this set up, but I am experiencing constant white noise when the guitar is plugged into the computer.

I've tried changing this to ASIO, but the white noise remains, and/or I get feedback, but most importantly I don't get any guitar signal. At least with set up above, I am getting guitar signal (albeit quiet amongst the white noise).

Hello alexfwalker10 and welcome to the forums.

Well, there are a couple of possibilities..

1) Have you authorised AT5 correctly using the IK Product Manager? White noise is used to remind the user to do this otherwise it's still in demo mode.

2) It could actually be because you are plugging in directly to the soundcard's input, and probably using an 1/4" to 1/8" adapter, rather than using an appropriate external audio interface. The MOBO's inputs are generally meant to take a line level or mic signal and are not really set up to take a signal from a guitar.

Let us know if either of these checks out.

Yes, all authorised correctly.

I am plugged into the 1/8 inch jack, which is almost certainly the source of the problem.

Presumably, one of these would work though? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00SAV0VP0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Finally got all the pieces together over the weekend, and by putting the Behringer UMC202HD in between the guitar and the computer, the white noise issue has gone. However, I now have a different problem, which is that when I play the guitar, there's a delay. Probably only half a second or so, but obviously that's quite noticeable!

It's the same on two different computers.

Where do I begin to troubleshoot this?

Solved. Added ASIO4ALL and then adjusted latency down as low as it would go. I think I can still hear a slight delay, but nothing off putting now!
