can i "hide" the locked gear?!

Is there a way to hide the gear i don't own and i cannot use from the dropdown menus?

there are so many entries that are "useless" to the people who don't own the gear that the menu are really messed up. having a cleaner and clearer choice could be useful in certain cases.

Agreed, this is kind of a no-brainer. It really needs to be done.

I understand they want to use it to "expose" all the gear and to "advertise" it... but it's really annoying!

At least in the stand-alone app, there's an icon on the top left of the selection area where you can toggle between all/only available:
