I can't replicate what you're describing outside what I would expect from a hi-gain amp going through a tape echo simulator. No crackles or hiss that weren't in the original signal from the amp are being generated by the SSTE as far as I can tell. There was a big build up of low-end, but that's not surprising due to the replication and saturation that the tape echo is doing.
