Assign Midi Program change in Live Mode in SampleTank 4

I have used sampletank for a while but have never cared to use the Live Mode. I'm using ST4 and I now have a need to want to use it. I've created a song and added instruments. I am now trying to find information on how to assign midi program change trigger from my midi controller. I've looked in the manuals for ST3 and ST4 and checked youtube but there's nothing that shows me how to exactly do it. Can anyone help?

Hello gwd and welcome to the forum.

ST4 User Manual Chapter 10, but it is a bit brief

Here are the 4 main steps to set it up (right-click to see the full-size image):


Now, in the example, PC# 001 will select "First Song", and PC# 014 then selects and loads "Flutar". PC#015 selects and loads Space Back". When the song is finished, send PC# 002 to select "Second" and whatever PC number is needed for its first instrument.

Then work out how to send the desired PC messages from your MIDI controller.

In the past I have used a special MIDI FX that has a list of the same PC messages and sends the next one on the list each time it receives a C-1 note.

What you provided is what I did. My question is regarding your statement of... "Then work out how to send the desired PC messages from your MIDI controller.". How do I tell PC#015 for example to respond to said button my midi controller? I'm not seeing where to do that in Sampletank.

You do not do that in SampleTank; you need to configure your MIDI controller to send a PC#015 message when you press some button or pedal or ...

By putting 15 in that PC column you are saying to SampleTank "when you receive a PC #015 message, select and load the "Space Back" Multi. (Assuming that your controller has sent a PC# 001 message earlier, to select "First Song").

What MIDI controller are you using?

Ah I see what you are saying. I'm using a technics digital piano and I connect it to my PC via a mio iConnect usb midi interface.

The MIDI to USB cable doesn't do anything special to the MIDI message content.

You will need to find out how to program any buttons on the digital piano. Exactly which one is it?

Gotcha. Its a Technics pcm digital piano PX 201. I've been trying to find info on it but there doesn't seem to be.
