I like Amplitube very much, but I also like to mix and match Amplitube in the signal chain with products from different vendors. Other cab simulations, fx solutions, etcetera...

It would be nice if Amplitube got an option where we can load just the amp head, without the whole (amplitube) signal chain and gear browser in a vst window, so that we could use Amplitube as a slimmed down amp only solution as well.

A bit like with the old Line 6 Pod Farm 2.5, where there are "elements" vst's next to the complete Pod Farm environment. Or another oldie; Waves GTR3, which has amp only vst's.

I know of course that with the current Amplitube version you can bypass the cab section, and thus use the vst as amp only, but the window feels cluttered and huge when one only wants to use the amp head in the vst signal chain.

For God sakes!! Put Amplitube 5 in a hardware format like EVERYONE else has done! Tonex is great, but it would be even better to have all my favorite effects and controls in one bulletproof floorpedal.

finally I solved the 'lacking balls' problem, it's related to how the amp sims FEEL. The tone can be totally there, but not the feel.

SO, I solved the problem with a super crazy setup:

I am running Amplitube IOS preamps through the THRU of my IRIG HD into the clean channel of my tube amp, into a Celestion flat response speaker F12-X200 miked up into a closet. The miked up sound goes into the cab sim of my Amplitube on my desktop.

Now the tube amp + x200 are NOT there to provide any tone, but the FEEL. The volume is very low with the closet closed. This setup blows my mind.

The x200 is not just any flat response speaker, it's built to feel like a standard guitar speaker.

Now I have Amplitube not only SOUNDING like a tube amp, but FEELS like one too, TOTALLY.

The only slight problem is that all this back and forth adds a tiny bit more latency. SO it would be super cool for IK to come up with a product, probably an interface that allows the user to get the Amplitube PREAMP tone only, out of the desktop via the THRU of the interface, into the tube amp+ FR FR speaker, and back into the desktop, using the cab sim, thus completing the chain.

I repeat, the tube amp and the x200 speaker are NOT there to provide ANY tone, but the FEEL. In fact, I have the x200 speaker in the closet, miked up, with NO CAB AT ALL. Because it's only the feel I want them to provide.

Crazy setup, but it works like a charm. I think IK could perhaps develop some killer new products that allows us to do all this more easily.

I tried everything imaginable in the past, including the new interfaces with the jfet preamp. They perhaps improve the feel somewhat, but by no means to the degree of the setup I use now!

Now I really have not only the tone but the FEEL of a real amp.

'more easily', i.e. with less latency

We should be able to specify a custom path that Amplitube looks for IRs. The way it is now, we need to look for the IR we want and load it to the default location. This means that there is a duplicate IR being stored in that location for every IR we use in a preset. It also makes it really, really difficult to try out IRs from a large selection. We should be able to specify the top level directory for our IRs and have all sub-directories available. Most other applications can already do this. If there is already a way to do this, PLEASE let me know...

It needs to be able to sync BPM with an external MIDI clock. Both recieve and transmit

I feel like some of these following request should've been existed in AT5 a long time ago, but since it haven't (yet):
>Insert FX *between* amp and cab; no, I don't mean "fx loop", that's a different thing; I meant the ability to insert fx between amp out and cabinet in.
>Multi-out (either as send or aux) for individual mic, rooms and DI, instead of mux everything down to a single path.
>Ability to use TONEX as a cabinet. We can already do bypass the cab section in TONEX Amp to use AT Cabs, so why not the other way around?
>Global cab sim bypass for X-Drive.

I'd like it to have an FX insert between Amp and Cab

While we can load tone models from Tonex in Amplitube, I would like to be able to see and load Tonex Presets as well.

The ability to export a rig to a tonex capture
This of course would not apply to time based effects, but I don't see why I can't consolidate an overdrive pedal, amp, cabinet, eq, and maybe even compressor into a single tonex capture.

You could have an export button that automatically disables all the blocks that are not exportable.

I think that would be a killer functionality that would boost both AT5 and Tonex sales.

When using the 8-track mode and the gear chain view is active, it would be great if there were an option for limiting incoming MIDI Program Change Messages to the currently shown (active?) channel. I set up AT5 for two guitar players on on track 1 and one on track 2 but if I use any of my preset stomp buttons it will change the preset for both tracks.

Capture incoming MIDI data while recording. When recording, turning on/off a pedal or using an expression pedal is all lost when the recording is done. Sounds correct while played live but on playback you only hear the current state of the gear chain for the entire song.

TL;DR - MIDI Control Of Everything

Failing that here are my top choices:
1. Rack Effect Power button (bypass)
2. Tap Tempo (although really if presets remembered tempo I wouldn't need this)
3. Tuner - bring up the tuner UI and have it turned on and muted
4. Mixer controls (especially Master volume out)
For extra points:
Global MIDI controls of amps for common controls like, Gain, Master Volume, Bass, Mid, Treble, Presence.

Why not have MIDI control of everything? We have things like the GraphicEQ where it seems to have MIDI control for every button and slider (well except for power). But if a single effect can have that level of fine-grained control why not do the same for the host application?

I second that :)

While I love the improved Tonex support in Amplitube, I do really miss the option to load / save Tonex presets in an instance of Tonex within Amplitube (including support of the Tonex preset folder structure). That would make the combination of Amplitube and Tonex a real all-in-one solution, and awesome combination.

At the minimum, an "import Tonex preset" option would be really appreciated!

A second thing that would improve the Amplitube / Tonex combination even more imho, is the support of the Tone Model browser like in the Tonex software itself.
I generally save tone models in various folders, but Amplitube supports only searching through all the tone models.
