Ruse - first cottage session track to share on the new forum

Hi all,

Well, super that this forum is back and even better…cheers, Peter! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

So, here’s an offering. My partner in crime, Paul, worked on this song at our cottage session last summer but it got parked until a couple weeks ago. Put some finishing touches on it and about as good as I can make it, so here goes.

Paul played some delectable bass on this one and offered some BG vox as well. No shortage of IK stuff here either (MODO Drums, TONEX o’ plenty, Syntronik, Stage 73, Pianoverse, ST4 & Miroslav for horns, Joe Chiccarelli vox strip, and some TRackS plugins).

Ruse is a little more upbeat than my usual songs but I figured it was time to try something out of the usual.

I say keep trying new things because this track is great. Tell Paul the bass track and the BGVs were awesome.

Hey Michael, really nice track, great vibe and atmosphere.

It feels natural and well put together, and the mix sounds clean too.

For my personal taste, the drums feel a bit too roomy, but I completely get the direction you were going for, it is just a preference on my side.

Looking forward to more!
