AmpliTube or Solid State: Which is best for guitar?

Postby RyanReese123 » Sat Apr 23, 2022 12:47 pm

I just started playing guitar for about 6 months with a basic timbre. Currently, I want to mix different sound styles. Should I use AmpliTube or Solid State for the unique sound?

What is Solid State? And you're asking this question in a subforum for ToneNET, which means everyone here is pro-Amplitube. I don't know if you're going to get an answer within this community that doesn't pick Amplitube over another amp sim plugin.

Hi Ryan,

Assume you mean a solid state amp, have you already got an amp?
Have you got an audio interface to the computer?
Do you want to play guitar without the computer?

Let's say you want both and want to use an amp but also use the computer.

You could do both by getting an amp that also acts an audio interface to the computer, and getting the Amplitube CS package to see what you like.

Something like the Spark or Boss Katana will do that and I think will allow you to drop different sounds/tones to it.

Disclaimer, I don't have either amp or much knowledge of them other than what I've reviewed in the past. Pretty sure amp won't be as good as dedicated interface, don't know how Amplitube plays with amp as audio interface.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.
