How do I access/use "my gear" in CS to actually play?

Postby KatyLied1973 » Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:35 am

I've been using GarageBand as my amp simulator, on my iPhone, with my iRig.
How do I actually use the gear in Custom Shop to practice and play? I can "see" my gear but not actually use it. I don't see an option to play I'm really excited to play thru the laptop speakers.

Sorry, if this answer is obvious, but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Auburnreed and welcome to the forum.

Firstly, I would suggest that you change your user name to something other than your email address as this leaves you open to spammers and other nefarious practices.

So, onto your question...

To use Amplitube4 CS and your iRig with your laptop you need to install the main AT4 app, the Custom Shop app and the authorisation manager. You can find this software in your User Area as one download. You will also see a serial number next to AT4.

When you have installed the downloaded package, open the Authorisation Manager and put in your serial number to authorise the main AT4 app. Once this is done, open the AT4 app and configure the software to use your iRig as the input and you should be good to go.

I would suggest however that the speakers on your laptop may not be able to reproduce the tones from AT4 as successfully as other output methods, such as studio monitors, but that's a whole different conversation.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much!

I didn't even see the attached manual in my rush to try the gear. My apologies.

Additionally, I have amended my user name. I appreciate your help.

The Mesa Boogie gear runs in AmplITube so that is correct.

If you already have an instance of AT4CS installed, all you need to do is to launch the Authorisation Manager and input your serial number for your newly bought gear. Open AT4 and your amps etc should now be available to you.

If not, log into the Custom Shop app and click "Restore My Gear" (under AmpliTube>Gear) and that should do the trick.

Let us know if you are successful.
