Please improve the image quality of the FX GUIs in Mix Box (and ST4)

Here is the Bus Comp in ST4, MixBox and TR5. The Mixbox FX GUIs come from ST4, I believe.

Right-click the link for the full-size images

The knob shape / perspective and text font in TR5 is much clearer. I did think that the blurring may be down to the scaling factor, I tried setting them all to 1.0. It helped a little, but not enough.

As I understand it, blurry images can trigger the eye muscles to try to refocus on them, maybe leading to some eye strain.

From a KvR User:
A couple of things that could be improved just to make MixBox a little bit more user-friendly imo:

A/STEREO/B mode switch on Tape Echo
The MixBox Tape Echo has two delay lines which is nice. But when you want to turn it from two separate delays into one stereo delay, there seems to be no fast way to make A and B the same. T-Racks Tape Echo on the other hand has an A/STEREO/B mode switch that does allow you to do this when set to STEREO. I understand the developers need to prevent the MixBox GUI from getting cluttered up, but there is a perfect spot for the A/STEREO/B mode switch in the center of the MixBox Tape Echo GUI.

up and down arrows for module preset selection
It's possible to walk through the global presets by clicking on the up and down arrows. Strangely enough these up and down arrows aren't there in the preset browser of the individual effects. You have to click on presets to see the list of presets and then select one. It would be nice if you could also use up and down arrows here.

scroll the 4FX view using the keyboard left and right arrow keys
MixBox by default shows only four effects. If you want to see effects 5 - 8, then you can either click on the button in the top left corner to expand the view to eight effects or you can scroll to the other effects by moving the handle below the effects. Unfortunately scrolling didn't work by pressing the left and right arrow keys of my keyboard.

Avoid clicking the selection buttons for the bottom bar controls
There's one bottom bar that can show multiple things. Some users might like it, because this way the GUI doesn't get too large and only shows relevant information/controls. But the downside is that you have to click a button first if you want the bottom bar to show hidden information/controls. I wouldn't mind it if there were multiple collapsible bottom bars instead. Then the GUI gets larger on the bottom depending on the numbers of uncollapsed bottom bars, but they're not that high anyway.

More delay effects with different characters
MixBox only has three delay effects and could use some more delay effects with different character. An Echorec, a BBD delay and an oil can delay for example.

More models for the spring reverb
And the spring reverb could use a few more different sounding spring reverb models. The one from the Space Delay for example.

Load other plug-ins
Similar to the Reason DAW (not the Rack). It shows a "faceplate" (a GUI snapshot) for the plug-in and on clicking Opn, opens the plug-in's GUI for editing.

Transient Designer
General Gate
Drum Gate (specific for the task)
High/Low pass filers either on EQs or separate module (or global outside of rack space)
L/R/Mid/Side selectable per module
Exciter
Solo on EQ bands when sweeping frequencies and q (nice to have)

1. Optimize CPU usage. (I love the sound and workflow... Sprinkled it generously across a project in Reaper. The CPU usage jumped exponentially with each track of effects added. Interestingly, the per track impact was not properly reported in the Reaper performance meter)

2. Why not VST3 support for other plugins? I love this workflow so much, it would be nice introduce 3rd party processors into it.

3. More choices for HP and LP filters. As it is, only the Neve 1081 eq processor has them. Perhaps put filters on either side of the rack inserts, with a range of curves/slopes to choose from.

1. This is an issue to be reported to IK Support not a feature request. Outside the obvious modules like ConvoRoom that will be more resource intensive, you should see very realistic and low CPU/resource utilization. Support can be reached at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support

2. This is MixBox, not a DAW. Sorry, but at this time loading other companies' plugins into ours isn't going to be a feature.

3. Thank you for this feature request.

My major disappointment with MixBox has to be in the reverb section. There is a High Pass filter but no Low Pass filter. Which really limits the reverb use for guitarists and indeed other users.

The colour control helps but is not as transparent as a Low Pass filter. Why the omission?

Gate (or expander)
in Parametric eq module (button for Linear phase)
Lots of FILTERS for keyboars with resonances, but none FILTER with hP and Lp only
Noise reduction (similar to waves o izotope)
Some Mid-Side tools in modules (splits? Routing?)
MONO modules in mono channels and STEREO on stereo channels
AMPS IN STEREO (for guitar buses)
ECO MODE for real time and NORMAL MODE to render
Tilt eq will be nice (not really necesary)
Something similar to sothe, dseq , etc . . . (for a killer rack)

ps
and plizzz gain reduction green bar in DAWs like studio one

I'd like to add to this list

  • L/R options (Ability to process L and R independently)
  • Stealth Limiter
  • Graphic Menu when selecting units
  • Mic Room
  • One (More units from T-racks in general)

1) I second the request for clean Hi/Lowpass-filters
2) Gate/expander modul is a must for a Mixbox
3) Please give as a Polarity/phase switch! It´s deeply needed when mixing multimiced sources like Drums or Guitars.

Otherwise thank you for a great product!!!
Kind regards

Would love something along the lines of automation options for panning since iOS Garageband famously lacks panning and fader controls with any level of precision.
