Thru-FX Switch iRig HD2 Is iphone required for pass through?

Hi

I am considering getting the iRig HD2. Does the Thru-FX switch allow passthrough even if my iphone/iPad is not plugged in? Or would I have to disconnect and plug in to my amp/pedal board each time if I don't have my iOS device around?
