Irig Acoustic

I'm very new to recording on a computer. At guitar center the employee said i could record with an Irig acoustic on my computer. I have spent 2 hours trying to get it to work in reaper. Thus far i have not had any luck. Its picking up no sound what so ever. Do i need an interface to run it through as well? I was told i could just plug it straight in.

Typically iRig Acoustic Stage http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigacousticstage would be what you'd want to use to record acoustic into your computer as it works VERY well as a USB audio interface and does indeed sound fantastic.
