Line 1/2 as separate mono inputs to Windows?

Postby ball.adam@gmail.com » Thu Mar 07, 2024 11:27 pm

I'd like to be able to plug a microphone into Input 2 of my Axe I/O for use outside of a DAW - specifically, for videoconferencing and voice chat. However, Windows only recognizes Inputs 1 and 2 as the Left and Right channel of a single stereo input, so the microphone only comes through on one channel when I'm speaking. This is fine when I'm in the DAW since I can configure them separately there, but for Windows applications this isn't sufficient.

Is there a way to have Windows recognize the Axe I/O as two separate mono inputs, instead of a single stereo input?

I would love to have the answer to this because I cannot stream my guitar and still have a mic to speak to people because it only has a single input with 2 channels.

You would need to use an application (for example, of course DAWs support multiple inputs in the way you mention) that supports multiple inputs from a proper audio interface.
