iRig STOMP connection issues

The problem is that the communication between irig stomp and iPad is not working properly. If I can get it to work, then the wah (expression pedal) does not turn on using the switches. I have to tap on the screen to turn it on. Then the wah works but then if I load another instrument and return to the wah, the wah isn't working anymore - the expression pedal has no effect.
