Help Please - Messed up my Tonex App folder on Mac

Postby swordio » Sat May 03, 2025 4:37 am

Hi guys, I’m hoping someone out there can help me.

Since the 1.9.1 upgrade, I noticed that my Tonex app was not working as I expected.
I contacted support and they explained that having files related to Tonex on the cloud can cause issues.

After looking into it a little, I realised this was likely my problem, as I was running a constant, automated backup of my Documents folder to pCloud. This process was a 2-way sync, and has caused me to have dozens of duplicated Tonex files on my computer which all say “conflicted”.

I’ve uploaded a screenshot of my TONEX folder here so you can see what I mean:
https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... LPLVJce7Uy

I’m really hoping I can manually tidy up this folder by just deleting a bunch of these conflicting files. So I would be extremely grateful if somebody could share a screenshot (or description) of the files in their own TONEX folder which I can use to clean up my own, and get things running smoothly again.

I’m using a mac, so I think it would be best if someone else who’s also on a mac could help me out (the Windows files and folder structure might be identical, but I don’t know whether they are, so just want to remove that variable).

With all that in mind, please can some kind soul go to the following folder on their mac and tell / show me what is in their Tonex Folder?
Assuming you saved your Tonex library in the default location, it should be at:
Macintosh HD > Users > your_username > Documents > IK Multimedia > TONEX

In my folder, the duplicated / conflicted files affected all appear to have one of 3 extensions:
_.db
_.db-wal
_.db-shm

I’m guessing that you’ll only have one of each, but didn’t want to start deleting things based on that assumption.

I hope someone can tell me exactly what files and folders appear in their “TONEX” folder so I can hopefully clean mine up and get things working again.

As mentioned at the top of this post, I did reach out to support, and they were helpful - it’s where I found out that the cloud syncing was the issue. But I did reply to ask if it’s safe to start deleting files and haven’t heard any more back yet, so I thought I’d turn to this wonderful community in the meantime.

Thank you in advance!

@neumenne - I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. But as I wrote in my post, I've already contacted support. However I haven't heard anything from them since April 23rd, which is why I turned to the community.
