Amplitube 5.6.0+ crashes Reaper

Postby Grummelrocker » Sat Jul 22, 2023 10:19 pm

Hi there,
After upgrading Amplitube from 5.5.6 to 5.6.0 a couple of days ago (and now to 5.7.0) I can't load it in Reaper anymore. It just tries to load for like 20 seconds, then Reaper just closes without any error. Tried it on Reaper 6.79 and the current 6.81.

After downgrading to 5.5.6 it is working again.

Is this just happening to me?

Same issue for me.. It's a massive headache - I have 5 songs I was working on - and I don't have the old install.

Still some time ago, let me push this again.

Was just updating from my previously mentioned 5.5.6 to 5.10.4 and still have the same issue in the most current version of Reaper (running on Win 11).

Any ideas?

Not yet, as it wasn't critical initially.
Anyway, I found the following helpful to me:

It seems, that when you upgrade Amplitube a new version is (obviously) installed, but Reaper references to the old version somehow. Meaning in my list of plugins it just lists Amplitube (but not the exact version). When trying to insert that on a track Reaper eventually crashed.
I had AT added to my "Favorites" folder.

Only after I manually searched for new plugins all of a sudden Amplitube was listed as "new" and gone from "Favorites". That "new" version I can now finally add without Reaper crashing.

I don't know if that was just because Reaper handles plugins, of if it is related to the way IK Mulitmedia does the update or some "mixture" of that.
Other plugins don't show that behavior of being listed as "new" after a update.

Anyway. At least for me the problem was fixed by explicitly searching for new plugins.
