Amplitube hiss/static noise for many presets

Postby Kokos » Sat Jan 22, 2022 4:56 pm

Hi,

When browsing through presets in my Amplitube 5 I get ear damage from that hiss/static noise saying I'm using unauthorized/demo component. Is there any way I could exclude presets from the browser containing pieces I don't own?

I got Amplitube 4 MAX with Axe I/O and then updated to Amplitube 5 restoring all purchases.

Thanks for any hints.

Hello Kokos

In the top right hand corner, next to the "Search gear" field, there is a button that has a picture of a combo. If you click this it filters you through gear you own (a tick), gear you don't own (a cross) and all gear (tick and cross).

If you select it until it just shows a tick, this will also filter all the presets to just show those that you own or are trialing the gear for.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

I've just downloaded AmpliTube 5.3 here, and since I've not yet purchased that's AmpliTube 5 CS to me, right? (I'm a bit confused as to whether these are actually separate products/downloads, or simply different access levels to the same program.)

Anyway, I have narrowed to "what I own" as per the instructions above and there are now only a few presets and a few items of gear shown. OK, good!

However, the hiss/static still takes place. How can it be stopped? (Or can it not be stopped until purchase?).

I'm fine with having only a limited selection for trial purposes, but I cannot evaluate with that #&$%^ static/hiss constantly interrupting.

I would appreciate a full clarification of the situation by someone who understands it.

Many thanks!

Yes, the free edition is "AmpliTube 5 Custom Shop" ("AT5 CS"). All the editions are the same software; the serial number(s) used to Authorize the software determines what gear models are licensed.

If you are only loading gear models that are licensed to you then there should be no hiss. I think that many of the presets will be using gear that is not licensed.

Instead of the presets, try loading gear models from the browser. Or, load a preset, hear the hiss and remove one piece of gear at a time until the hiss goes away. Either way this will help us identify the issue, but please post the specific details of the steps you take.

I solved this on my system.

When I begin by selecting an amp I own, sometimes the chain pops up below with some cabinet added that I don't own (padlocked). Sometimes the chain has a cab I do own. When there's a cab I own, there's no hiss. If it's one I don't own (padlocked), there'e a hiss.

To remove the hiss, add any cabinet you own in place of the unowned cabinet - then right-click it and select bypass. Or if you like the cab sound, leave it be or insert another owned cab you like.

Thank you DarkStar and spantini !

Rebooting the machine cleared the general problem, and since then I've just seen a few individual cases where there was an un-owned item in a preset and in these cases, so far, I've been able to either bypass or remove that item to good result.

Cheers!

I have a similar problem. I own Ampltiube 4 Total Studio Max 2 and all the presets should load in AT 5 CS without a problem. Unfortunately this is not the case. The presets work in AT4 but I get the hiss in AT5. I un- and/or re-autohrized 4 and 5, no luck. It was not like that until one of the updates of 5 I think.
