As I have read past threads as it relates to this subject (Uninstalling AT3 for AT4 upgrade) I am aware that it's not necessary to do so especially when saving projects are concerned. Seeing that I have no projects and precious few custom presets, is there anything to be gained by retaining AT4? The only concern I have is saving the gear purchases but from what I understand that"s not an issue. I'm running this on a Microsoft Surface Pro and I just don't see it necessary to have both loaded on to this tablet. I'm looking for replies before I buy AT5.

In your circumstances, there is no need to keep AT4 installed.
If you do a "Restore my purchases" in the new (v2) Custom Shop, then all of your licensed gear will be available in AT5 and, depending on the edition that you buy (AT5 SE, AT5 or AT5 MAX) you will get net features and gear.
There is some discussion, but you may well be able to use your AT4 presets in AT5. Or, at least use them as a starting point.

Thanks for that, Dark Star. Is it safe to say I need only to uninstall AT4 but leave the other downloads associated software (CS and whatever drivers etc) in place?

Keep any drivers, yes.
As for the Custom Shop, you will need the new one (v2). It is available in the IKPM (the IK Product Manager):
https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/productmanager/I am not sure of the status of the old Custom Shop.

There's no new drivers associated with AT5?

Drivers are associated with hardware devices (like your audio interface), not application software (like AmpliTube).
AmpliTube just needs to be told which driver to sue, to access your audio interface.

Duh! I think I may be using a Focusrite driver. Thanks again.
