[RESOLVED] Restore the Factory v2 presets

Postby splisp » Thu May 01, 2025 9:38 am

I must have messed up a bit the contents of the Factory V2 presets folder in my database. How can I get back the original presets? Maybe re-installing the Tonex application, having first performed a backup of my current database? How exactly should I proceed?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Peter, but doesn't that procedure just dump to the pedal the current contents of the "Factory Presets v2" folder in the user's db? What if I have modified / deleted some of the presets that were in that folder (which is not read-only...)? Or, is the original contents stored somewhere else unaffected by user's edits?

It sounded like you wanted to restore the original (and/or V2) presets from what I gathered. Sorry if I misunderstood. There is a backup and restore function built into TONEX which will allow you to backup and restore your library.

Maybe I can't express myself. I don't have a backup. I'm looking for the original Factory Presets V2. Not on the pedal: in the standalone app. I have accidentally deleted some of them from my database and I'd like to get back the original contents of the Factory Presets v2 folder. Maybe it's not possible.

Thanks!

There's a factory folder in the User data (in Windows it's C:\Users\<USER>\Documents\IK Multimedia\TONEX\FactoryPresets) but it's empty on my PC.

So, here's what I have done:

  1. make a copy of the Tonex data folder at C:\Users\<USER>\Documents\IK Multimedia\TONEX
  2. Uninstall Tonex
  3. Delete the Tonex data folder since the uninstaller left it on the disk
  4. Reinstall Tonex
  5. Open Tonex (not necessarily the Editor: I launched the standalone app)
  6. Find the original "Factory Presets v1" and "Factory Presets v2" folders in the Presets area and export all the presets there to 2 folders on the disk
  7. Close Tonex
  8. Replace the Tonex data folder with the backup made at step 1: at this point I have my previous database where Factory Presets were altered, and I also have the original Factory Presets to a folder on my disk.
  9. Open Tonex
  10. Delete the presets in the "Factory Presets v1" and "Factory Presets v2" folders (option "delete from the library")
  11. Drag the presets from the folders created at step 6 to the corresponding Factory folders in the app

:) :) :) :)
