HELP: "Could not start Modeler Engine"

Postby pbwagner@sasktel.net » Thu Mar 06, 2025 7:33 pm

Hello,

Looking for some help. I have been running Tonex Max successfully on my computer for about a year now to create Tone Models. Just right out of the blue, starting about two weeks ago, the software will no longer work at the training step.

It just sits there and then after a few minutes I get the message: "Could not start the Modeler Engine!".

I contacted IK's support and they were fairly quick to respond. They got me to do a complete fresh install of Tonex, but it did not fix the problem. I reported this back to them, but I can no longer seem to get them to respond. Seems they have gone radio silent.

Just hoping one of you might have had the same problem and could help me trouble shoot. Thanks.

Brad.

I am in the same boat now. Worked flawlessly for me with a 3080 12GB for a year since I bought it, upgraded to a 5080, now I get "Could not start Modeler Engine" every time. I too am in contact with IKMM support, not resolved yet but hopefully they're getting a sense of what might be going on.

Add me to the list! Interestingly enough, works fine on my office rig (a much older computer).
I should add both computers are running Win 10.
The “office” is Win 10 Home, consequently it is “up to date”. The studio rig is Win 10pro, I’ll have to check on when Windows was last updated.

I just did, #7725706 Please put a boot in support's posterior; so to speak. I am not the only one who has had this issue.
Has this issue been resolved for those folks?
I notice one big issue (say as compared to the Cakewalk Forum), it seems no one follows up with the solution to their problem...

TIA in advance,
Tom

I couldn't say, those users can answer but typically support takes care of people in their tickets. Also, sometimes "the exact same issue" is not that. The error may be the same, but the cause may be quite different, etc. Since this isn't a support forum, I'm not sure people are going to come back and regurgitate what support said to them for a couple of reasons (the cause may be more specific to their case, and note that copy/pasting support tickets is no bueno per the forum rules linked at the top of each page).

I'm sure IK Support will assist you, they handle issues each day and help people so I'm sure they can get you up and running.

Hi. I am the one that started this thread. No IK's support has not yet been able to find the problem but are still looking into it. I will let you know what happens.

Hi all. Just wondering if we could nail down the date you first noticed this, since it may be related to an update.

I noticed that the problem first started to occur on February 24th. Now that I remember, windows had an update that it was wanting to run for several days and I kept putting it off. Finally I scheduled it for the night of February 23rd. So this may be the problem.

Let me know the date when you first noticed this problem. Maybe it has something to do with that windows update.

Brad.

Also, just further to my message just above, Tech Support is wondering what video cards we are all using.

I am using an Nvidia Geforce rtx 4060.

Regards,
Brad.

GTX-1050 on an ASUS Prime Z370-A MB (rig is a little "long" in the tooth, but my
15 year old "office" rig runs ToneX Modeler just fine, but oh boy is it sloooow)

Just brought the rig in from the Studio, will be updating the nvidia a bit later...

Just updated the drivers for the GTX-1050.
ALL IS WELL NOW!
Interesting note: I use 3 monitors on this system (2 on the 1050) in the studio.
When in the office (as I am now) I use only one.
With the monitor on the 1050 the default learning took about 18 minutes.
With the monitor on the MB graphics port it took under 8 minutes.
Guess I'll be running one monitor when I'm doing captures and training.
