Amplitube 5 VST3 crashes

Postby oynaz0 » Fri Nov 22, 2024 10:59 pm

Amplitube 5 VST3 has started crashing Reaper. It has worked fine before.

The VST version still works fine, but when I add the VST3 version, Reaper crashes to desktop - even in an otherwise empty project.

I have old project with the VST3 version on a track. Playback works fine, but when I open the UI, Reaper crashes.

I have probably updated Reaper more than once since I have seen the VST3 UI work.

See Event Viewer log below.

Is there a crash log for Amplitube somewhere? Otherwise, I am open to suggestions.

I had a similar problem with Cakewalk starting today after the update.

I had to actually manually delete ALL files with Amplitube in the name (as in Windows search my entire drive and delete them by hand as Control Panel uninstall and IK Manager re-install didn't get them all) and then reinstall it from scratch. Seems to work now.

Thanks, I will try that.
There is definitely something iffy about my install - the IK Multimedia Control Panel reports version 5.10.2, but Event Viewer reports 5.7.4

Having a similar problem with "Plugin failed to load" error on Cakewalk. Standalone Amplitube 5 is working fine, but the VST3 is definitely broken since the recent updates. I've tried the re-install through the product manager, with no success. I guess I'll try the scorched earth approach and do a clean install of the application, but I would rather IK fix this in a patch.

Hi all,

I have the exact same issue as avsnuts with the Plugin failed to load" error on Cakewalk since I updated on Nov 23. Desktop Amplitube 5 works (but needed to be reset to ASIO), VST3 will not load.

PETER_IK - please add me to the list requesting a bug fix for this issue - thanks.

Hi all,

The issue with the AmpliTube VST has now been resolved, after the latest update to Cakewalk was installed. That is listed as version 2024:11 build 120.

Thanks to all for your help, and I'll email IK Support to let them know.

Cheers,

David Ross

Thanks for the update. IK support was helpful in providing a simple fix: remove the Amplitube 5.vst3 for the embedded folder and promote to the VST3 main folder. This worked for me. Then came the update from Cakewalk. It seems from the Cakewalk changelog that the problem was with the software not scanning folders with VST3 in the name correctly, but supposedly was fixed. Thanks for confirming!

Hi avsnutz. Thanks to you too for passing on the info regarding the fix from IK support, plus the further info on the Cakewalk changelog.

It's great that we can share information like this, as you never know when it may be handy sometime down the track!

All the best - cheers!
