You're right Peter, I need to be into stomp mode with the pedal bypassed indeed ! Now the behaviour of the pedal is perfect to try different amp models. Thanks a lot :D

Great! I'm glad this firmware update and that FAQ help a lot of people use TONEX ONE.

Re: Setup TonexOne using headphones and computer

I just can't get this dang thing to work properly.
So, here's where I'm at (sorry for long post):

Preparation
- TONEX ONE Firmware updated to latest version
- ASIO driver 5.68 (windows) installed
- Software TONEX SE version 1.7.4 installed
- No other audio interface connected to windows 10 computer

I Connect TONEX ONE to PC using USB-C cable. I don’t have a USB-C port, so I am using a USB-C to USB connector. Is this ok? Or am I missing out on data that should be getting through by not using an in-built USB-C card?

Connect headphones to TONEX ONE output jack, Windows shows that the speakers or in my case the headphones are connected. I can listen to youtube videos but the only way to change the volume is with the volume control in youtube. The windows speaker slider has no effect, nor does the volume/ gain control on the TONEX ONE. I'm used to an audio interface allowing me to use it's inbuilt volume control as a volume control. Again is this correct behaviour for the unit?

Changing between stomp mode and dual mode makes no difference. I can still hear the youtube video playing.
Now, Connect guitar to TONEX ONE input, youtube still plays, but no guitar sound.
Start TONEX software, I can now hear the amp models assigned to the pedal
On librarian tab I can hear the models assigned to slots A and B and can switch between them with the pedal, so all good. There is no means to edit any of the sounds here. I'm assuming that this is just the place to drag and drop models into one of the 20 spare slots, or drop straight onto the pedal slots A, B or C?

I Click Home tab, I can still hear the models on the pedal. How do I audition and edit the models here whilst the pedal is still connected to the computer? I have read about people using a second audio interface and disconnecting the TONEX ONE completely whilst using the editor. This can’t be correct surely?

I’ve also read about putting the pedal into stomp mode and bypassing direct monitoring to access the tone models on the home tab for editing - not sure if this is a relevant step in the process!

Great pedal, great sounds but the whole thing just doesn't gel together. I'm just hoping that I am doing something wrong and I can get it to work. Seriously considering returning it due to the clunky software.

Any assistance, gratefully received

Hey there !

USB to USB-C cable : it's perfectly fine to use, the pedal is even provided with such a cable if I recall correctly.

No volume control except youtube's built-in slider : it is normal behaviour I think, it's the same for me

I think you just need to disable the direct monitoring feature : go into your librariantab, and click on the gear symbol to edit the options for yout pedal. You should have a dedicated option to turn on or off the direct monitoring. Turn it off. Leave the option menu, and put the pedal into stomp mode, then bypass the pedal. Now, go into the home tab and choose an amp model to try. You should now hear your guitar played through the selected amp model when you play it. If not, check the audio interface, input and output used by the ToneX computer software.

Thanks for your reply.

Everything is acting really weirdly at the moment. Plugged pedal in this morning, software not connected and just to make sure that I know which amp is playing and where, I have set up driven tones on the 3 slots (A, B and stomp) on the pedal. They have been set up with full on reverb.

Launch software and it starts up on the home tab with Black Angus model loaded. this has no reverb added but I can hear reverb so I'm thinking that I am now hearing the Black Angus and the model on the pedal at the same time. I can change the Black Angus parameters in the software - gain etc. and it changes the sound. Now select the librarian tab and switch between slot A and B, I am definitely hearing the Black Angus and the Tonemodel on the pedal at the same time.

Now I turn off direct monitoring and put the pedal into stomp mode. Switch off i.e bypass the stomp and I just get the Black Angus. So this makes sense. I switch back to the home tab and I can do whatever I need to do to the Black Angus model (adjust gain, add reverb etc.) and then save it. The problem now comes as I try to switch out of the editor and return to the Librarian. I can still hear both models playing. How do I now turn off the Black Angus (or whatever model is currently selected in the editor mode) and just audition the pedal sounds? I can't find a way of doing this.

This is really doing my head in!

You would like that going to the Librarian tab switches off the home tab, and enables the selected model on the pedal, I guess ? If so, it's not possible at the moment.

My idea of how to use everything is this : turn off direct monitoring, try different sounds in the Main tab, then save what you like as dedicated presets. Now, you can assign those presets into the slots in the librarian tab. Just swutch back to A/B mode or Dtomp mode depending on what you like, unpkug the cable and go gig !

The ToneX One acting as an audio interface means you should get the exact same tone through the ToneX software and with the same preset saved into the pedal.

I've found this Youtube which to me should be the way that the pedal and the software is supposed to work:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J47E53j2SGk&ab_channel=GalToneStudio

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J47E53j ... ToneStudio

You'll notice that during the stock presets demo he is on the librarian tab and drags and drops models into slot A with no problem at all. Then he edits, saves and drags back. He doesn't have the model on the TONEX playing at the same time as the model in the editor on the Home tab.

I have tried to replicate what he does, and mine just doesn't do this!

Koala this works for me! I can work with this pretty easy. Perfect no.

Hi, to hear the sounds directly from the pedal (you need to drag a model to any of the 3 slots, you can only audition the ones on the slots), you need to do the reverse than what you do to hear only the models. 1st turn on direct monitoring (now you hear both pedal and model) and then go to the model tab and, on the amp image of the model that is selected, turn off the power button (the red light on the amp image turns off). Now you hear only the sound from the pedal.

Ahh mate, I think you might have cracked it! It's the power button on the model in the editor/ home tab that I need to switch off! I'll have a good go at it tomorrow, make sure it all works then post a step by step guide for anyone else who is having the same problem. I can go to bed in a well chuffed state - thanking -you most kindly!
