AT5 using midi foot controller in Logic Pro X

Postby kharlitos » Fri Mar 03, 2023 8:38 am

Hi, does anyone had successfully managed to record and control AT5 individual stomps in Logic Pro X? In stand-alone app I was able to do this using my XSONIC XTone Pro. But when I want to record in Logic and want to control each stomp (distortion, delay etc) it just would not recognise when I click learn.

Yes, I've done this. There are a couple of ways of doing it.

The easiest way (for me) is to set up AT5 as a "AU Midi controlled effect" in an instrument track. The audio comes in to AT5 as a sidechain input from an audio track where the guitar (or whatever audio) is recorded. The MIDI from the foot controller is the instrument track's MIDI data.

Apple hasn't really documented this at all; some plug-in documents refer to it. But it works great.
