After upgrade to AT 5.5.3, plugin UI crashes Reaper

Postby MideBass76 » Sun Dec 18, 2022 6:02 pm

I upgraded from AmpliTube 5.5.2 to 5.5.3 on Windows 10. After this, the standalone AT is working fine, but when I want to open AT's User Interface as plugin in Reaper DAW, then Reaper crashes (for both old and new Reaper projects). However, sound processing in old Reaper projects still works. So for me it looks like the upgrade broke something in the UI of AT5's VST plugin.

Are there other Reaper users having the same problem?

I am using version 6.71 of Reaper on Windows 10, which is the latest version of Reaper.

I guess I could downgrade to AT 5.5.2 by manually running the installer contained in file "AmpliTube_5_5_2.zip" (which I found in the download folder of the "IK Multimedia Product Manager". Or maybe this bug is fixed in AT 5.5.4 ;)

I would still recommend opening a ticket for your issue too, for multiple reasons. Sometimes issues that appear to be "exactly the same" often are not and also you'll help provide more information to help solve any issue if it is the same and you'll know directly what to do instead of relying on a third party via a third party forum to filter information in order to get your issue resolved. The IK Support team would be happy to assist you.

I found a solution to my problem: An analysis of a Reaper crash in Window's Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) revealed that there were components (dlls) from different versions of AmpliTube 5 on my system.

I have updated AmpliTube 5 a few times since I installed it. I don't know how it could happen that some files from older versions of AT were remaining on my system after an update. Anyway, after re-installing AmpliTube5 the problem was fixed.
