AmpliTube 4/5 - Loopback - Feedback Problem

Postby rockbandguy » Mon Jan 25, 2021 3:35 pm

Hi,

I want to record the AmpliTube processed sounds but cannot figure out, how to solve this problem:

Gear used:
Yamaha AG06 mixer with loopback function,
AmpliTube 5 (AmpliTube 4 had the same problems).

I am not able to record a "wet" (processed) signal from AmpliTube.
When I choose the loopback feature to "get the processed signal" on the AG06 I get a feedback problem.

When I use the AG06 supplied software that dos not happen.

Here is a video of it:

How can I solve this
If there is there another way to record the processed signal, please tell me.

Best, Adrian

Hi Adrian

I'm not familiar with the AG06 mixer, but I would suspect that the interaction with the Yamaha software amp sim is doing something clever in the background to stop the feedback. This wouldn't be replicated with AT.

What DAW do you want to record in? Maybe there is another way to do it.

Hi Garfy,

I would like to record backing track & AmpliTube output with my Zoom H4n Pro that I have connected to my AG06 main out.

So no daw.

In fact I had trouble capturing both desktop audio & processed AmpliTube in Audacity.

To record on Zoom H4n Pro my seemed to me as easiest solution.

Yeah, I think the loopback is the thing causing the issue here.

Just as a guess, as this is purely from looking at the manual:

1) Plug guitar in, play and set the gain on channel 2 so you are seeing a healthy level on the input meter in AT5. Leave the "To PC" switch set to DRY CH1-2 and the level knob at 0.
2) Raise the level of the PC return (knob with the image of the USB/Laptop underneath it). You should now hear the effected AT5 sound in your headphones/speakers.
3) Now play your backing track (I'm guessing on the laptop) and balance the levels in the software between the output of AT5 and whatever media player you are using for the b/track.
4) Plug your Zoom recorder into the stereo outs on the Yamaha AG06 and hopefully you'll see the signal arrive there. Again you may need to raise the output level on the desk/recording level on the Zoom to hit a good record level.

Like I say, that's my best guess without actually having the kit in front of me. Let us know how you get on.
