No, they are the real thing.
The 180 days refers to the period during which you can download the main Sounds Libraries. IK Multimedia recommends that you also make a back-up copy of those files. Otherwise, IF you need to download them again AFTER the 180 days, then you would need to pay a single Downloads Reactivation fee ($10?) to download them again.
Once installed, the sounds libraries will last for ever (or at least as long as your disc drive does).
Use the IK Product Manager (IKPM") to install the software and the sounds libraries. But read the User Manual (available from a link within the IKPM) and the tips here:
