I Miss You Tonight

Postby danwilson5 » Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:35 pm

Hi All,

Here is a special song that I wrote. It features my Dad (Vocals), my brother Kelly (Guitar) along with Doug Louie (organ), Ian Smith (Tenor Sax) and myself (Drums and Bass). Its the first time that my Dad, brother and I got the chance to record together.

Hope you enjoy it, I look forward to your comments.

Dan,

Thanks for posting. Sounds are great and mix is excellent, playing is spot on.

Your dad’s voice is velvety smooth! First time recording with you or at all?

Either way, must have been a real treat to get that ensemble together & have him involved. Nicely written song for the genre, BTW. Planning more with your dad?

Take care,
Michael

Hi Michael and Zuga1974,

Thank you for the kind words.

Dad has been a professional musician (drums and vocals) all his life. He has played drums on other people's records but this was the first time the three of us got together to record.I know we will do more if I can write more that suit his style. (No pressure)

Hi Dan,

Jeez, what a great track dude, so smooth, so warm, I want to be in front of nice fire on a cold night listening to this with a brandy and a good cigar!!!

Your Dad has such good pipes man, I mean it's frigging awesome!! 8-)

Do you mind me asking how old your Dad is, because his voice sounds around our age but of course that's not possible.

Oh, and apparently I played the "Tenor Sax" on your track, who knew there was more than one of us in this world.

Would love to hear another one from you all, make it happen would ya buddy!! ;)

Cheers, CS. :)

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the kind words.

Dad is in his 80s and still playing with his band. We had a lot of fun recording the track.

It was a funny coincidence that I didn’t notice until after Ian (tenor sax) sent me the track. It appears that all people named Ian Smith are great musicians.

Cheers
Dan

Hey Dan,

I wanna be your Dad when I'm 80, still involved in music!

I often tell my family there's two ways I'd wanna check out of here:
1) surrounded by loving family on my deathbed
2) at the board with a guitar in my hand, found dead while tracking

Somedays the prefered order is interchangeable!

Take care,
Michael
