I Only Know What I Know (Hemispheres Project)

Postby CrazySchmidt » Sun Mar 21, 2021 7:34 am

Hi guys, this the the third song composed by the "Hemispheres Project", but with this release we welcome a new member, Fatboy Dazza who I have been working with for many years in New Zealand and who brings a fresh flavor to the project.

All guitar work (apart from the opening slide hook), is played using using Amplitube.

I hope you enjoy it, this has been a lot of fun for us all for sure! 8-)

Great to "hear" that the Hemispheres Project is alive and well and has put out another super solid track! I like it and the addition of slide really fits the song...I'm getting a Joe Walsh vibe which is a compliment for sure. Recording is well-done as are the vox. Still using Orange amps on this one?

You guys will be putting these out as a full record release soon enough, keep it up!

Hey Michael, thanks for the comment. :)

Joe Walsh is most definitely the biggest influence with me when it comes to slide, so a compliment indeed, thanks. 8-)

Yep, Orange OR120 amps on rhythm and lead slide guitars, the opening slide is played through a real Marshal DSL40C and yeah I think the vocals came through really nice on this one.

Cheers, CS. :)

Another great track!

Also, a tangent - Joe Walsh is not only a great guitar player but he has a great ear plus great knowledge about how electric guitars work. He did a video (might have been a series of them) for Gibson a while ago where he basically took a stock Les Paul handed to him and walked through all of the things he tweaked to make it a perfect instrument to play. Starts with a truss rod adjustment, talks about pickup height including how he would sacrifice tone for output early on which is generally a mistake but worked for him anyway :), fixes intonation, etc. As a cherry on top he teaches us the correct way to play "Whole Lotta Love" with a simple but effective little trick that I have to admit I didn't key in on after how many hundreds of listens to that song.

Ah it was a series... This is part 6 of 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STeHgXlnh1c

Thanks Peter! :)

Thanks for the link to the Joe vid also, I didn't know he had done anything for them. I follow the Gibson TV series and am always keeping my eye out for something new and interesting on their channel.

I'll be watching the whole 6 parts!! 8-)

Cheers, CS. :)
