re-installing all the software

Have run out of space on my 1Tb hard drive and plan to move all the software over to and external but fast SSD. Windows system. Any suggestions on ....
1. i assume i need to uninstall all the programs first and do a complete reinstall
2. file structure and installation on the new drive
3. any other pitfalls to be aware of..?

Sound libraries for SampleTank 4 can be copied/moved to the bigger drive without reinstalling those. Just point the program to the new path and rescan
