Irig Hd 2 troubleshoot

I’m trying to connect a external amp through the amp jack on the irig. It comes through clean fine, but when I turn the thru FX switch on to get my AmpliTube fx from my iPad there’s nothing. No sound at all. I only get sound from the external amp when the switch on the irig for the Thru FX is turned off. What gives?
