ARC 4 Analysis - glitchy test signal

Hi, just got ARC Studio 4, I really want to like this product.

But the ARC 4 Analysis program produces a horrible glitching sound in the test signal (sine sweep), or sometimes no sound at all.

The glitch changes when I select a different buffer size. Seems to insert gaps of silence that match the buffer length. In other words, when I select a large buffer I can hear the stuttering slow down.

Setup details

ARC4 Version 4.0.0 (24B20) 64-bit
macOS Catalina 10.15
Output device: Built-In Output, 48000 hz
Input device: Presonus Revelator io24
Buffer Size (tried them all)

multiple attempts closing/restarting machine.
BTW. it would sure simplify things if we could just plug the mic into the ARC box.
