[ANSWERED] TS MAX 3.5 to 4.0

Postby robgeorge808 » Wed Oct 30, 2024 6:16 pm

I just purchased the upgrade of Total Studio Max from 3.5 to 4.0.
Can anyone tell me what the difference is? I figured I'd get some new features and when I open the IK Multimedia Product Manager there's nothing even to upgrade. NOTHING!
I reached out to support and I don't think they even know.
So I'm not sure why they even offer this upgrade when it's just rebranding version 3.5.
Unless someone can tell me different.
I figured they would have T-RackS 6 in there, which is what I really wanted. But I totally misread that on the website.
So I wound up buying the same thing I already had except it says v4 now.

They added more T-RackS 5 plug-ins which were not available in Total Studio 3.5 MAX. TONEX MAX was also added in Total Studio 4 MAX. It comes with MODO DRUM 1.5 and MODO BASS 2 as well as more SampleTank libraries. There is definitely some more I missed but overall many upgrades.

MODO Bass 2 and TONEX MAX came with 3.5 for sure because I've been using them. They are not new in 4. I'm not sure about DRUM 1.5. Hammond B-3X was in 3.5 as I used it for my last recording too. But support told me it was new in 4.
SampleTank libraries is the biggest update I see besides the couple extra plugins.
I would figure there would be a list from IK on the differences but I haven't found one yet. And nobody at IK seems to be able to tell me what I really paid for.
If it's just SampleTank and some T-RackS plugins, then that's what it is.

MODO BASS 2 and TONEX MAX were not part of Total Studio 3.5 MAX. TONEX MAX was the biggest item added to Total Studio 4 MAX and it was featured as such. The "What's New" on the Total Studio 4 page will explain what was added https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/ts4

You can also see what was included in 3.5 via the Total Studio 3.5 MAX announcement: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?id=I ... TS35andTVI

Excuse me for being blunt:

Is there a page that compares 3.5 Max with 4.0 Max?

If there's not ... then Marketing has run away with the game.

Did they think we wouldn't noticed? : )

There is a "What's New" on the Total Studio 4 MAX page.

The "What's New" on the Total Studio 4 MAX page just amplified my confusion : )

Why would I pay $200 or $300 for so much less then the $150 package?

There's some broken-thinking going on here ... (could be me)
Or there's something in the other packages that's not getting communicated.
And it still doesn't answer the question of 3.5 vs 4

Don't get me wrong, I love how much 3.5 gave me for the money!
It wouldn't take much to get me to pull-the-trigger on "4"

I Just Want To KNOW how the two systems compare
and WHAT I'll be getting that I don't already have ...

I was wondering the same thing. For me, upgrading from 3.5 to 4 seems to give me the following:

Sampletank Expansion Libraries:

Beat Machines
Bionic Drums
Salsa Percussion Loops
The Resonator
The Code Volumes 1 & 2
Mojo Synthesis Collection

====
T-Racks Studio - two new modules

Joe Chiccarelli Vocal Strip
The Farm Stone Room

===
Tonex Max (from Tonex CS)

Modo Bass 2 (from Modo Bass 2 CS)

Modo Drum 1.5 (from Modo Drum)

+++++++

Buying those individually on sale is about $250 or $300 I think.

The upgrade is $150 and I have $45 of JamPoints I can use. So I think for me, the upgrade is worth it.

The What's New tells you exactly what you don't have. Sorry if that is confusing but you get a lot for only $150 as pointed out above. Even on sale it is MUCH more than $150 (lowest deal on MAX like MODO MAX is 99.99, the ST libraries are 99.99 each or ST4 MAX 99.99 on sale, TONEX MAX is normally $300 and on sale 99.99 (though there's a great Black Friday deal on it and AmpliTube 5 MAX but still makes this a huge discount), etc etc.
