EXPORT FILE IS HALF OF ORIGINAL

Postby galison » Thu Feb 28, 2019 6:45 pm

I have finished mixing / mastering a project using T-Racks5 and then moved on to the Assembly section to complete the process. The original wav. file I was working on was 145mb. I had inserted several of the processors and got the mix / master I was happy with in the original before doing the final Assembly ( only 1 song ). I then exported this " finished " project as a wav. file to copy to other devices. That's when I noticed that this " exported wav. file was now only about 73mb. Is this normal ? ( some kind of compression ? ) Seems to sound ok but I am not sure what happened from the time I imported the project ( 145mb ), processed it through T-Racks5 ( 145mb ) and then Assembly ( 145mb ) and then exported ( 73mb ). I am baffled.....

Thanx for your help.

Hi galison

If you have exported the finished file at a lower sample-rate or bit-depth this will affect the file size. Could that have happened?

There is no form of data compression happening in T-RackS, so it can't be that.

Ah... quite possible. I did not change the bit rate in the pop up and left it at 16 and 44k cd disc. That could be the solution.
Thank you Garfy !!
