Compressors inactive

Postby auggybendoggy2 » Sat Sep 08, 2018 1:45 am

I noticed with some of the different compressors, that just plugging them in and turning them off still produces some change in the texture of the signal. At first I thought, why would IK let that happen. Now I just read on a site explaining the difference between VCA, Opto, Vari-mu and FET, the writer explains that one trick with hardware FET is to plug it into a chain and the compressor turned off because the tubes still provide a warm sound.

Anyone else familiar with this? I'm guessing it wasn't just me noticing this different but I'm left wondering, did IK really pay that much attention to detail.

Got a specific example?

I think I recall reading that the default / null settings were designed to make the plug-in behave the same as the analogue gear on which it was modelled.

Yea, def the 1176. That's when I first noticed it. I'll check the others comps/lim too.
