Instruments List in Philarmonik (MP1) [Resolved]

Postby AngelusErrare » Fri Mar 01, 2019 1:59 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a little problem with Instruments in Philarmonik.
When I first installed the software, the instruments library was in program files/....
When I launched the VST, it was saing "instruments not found". Looking around the internet, I tried different things, the one that worked was to move the folder to a shorter on, it's now only D:\Instruments and it works.

Problem is : every time I save my project and open it again with Cubase 5, it says Instrument not found I had to call back the library in every track using this VST so it takes a very lot of time. Plus, I sometimes feel like it doesn't keep my settings (for example changing the velocity directly in the VST).

I tried to set the "reset list on startup" to OFF but nothing changed :/
Any idea how to change that ?

Thanks a lot !

Hello AngelusErrare and welcome to the forum.

Exactly which folder (full path name) did you move?
And what is its new full path name?
Does the standalone Philharmonik program work OK?

In your Sounds Library folder you should have sub-folders for Instruments, Samples, other folders, and a few files? What do you have?

Hi DarkStar and thanks for your answers !
So I moved the Instruments folder that was at D:\Program Files (X86)\IK Multimedia\Miroslav Philharmonik\ to directly at D:\
So when I am in Cubase, it says Instrument not found, I go in Pref, Browse, go to the new Instrument path and it's all good

My instruments folder contains 8 folders (brass, choirs, etc...) and one file (ST2InstrCache.dat)

Didn't try the standalone program. It does the same thing, it starts with no instrument in the list, I go to pref, it shows the old path, I browse it to the new one, and then it works. If I close it and restart it, have to do it again, the path is back to the wrong one.

I precise : it wasn't working on the old path and that's why I changed it. Found someone on a forum (maybe that one) saying that long path could be a problem for the library, maybe that was....

OK; it sounds like you did not move enough.

But first:
-- is this the original 32-bit Philharmonik (also now known as "MP1")?
-- or the current -64-bit Philharmonik ("MP2")?
-- what is the full path name to the Samples folder?
-- do you have any other IK Multimedia Sounds Libraries?
-- if so, what are the full path names to those libraries?

Also, "D:\Program Files (X86)\" seems a bit of an odd folder path.
What else is in there?
Where is the Philharmonik program installed?

So, here are for the answers :
- It's the 32 bit version
- Sorry for my english i'm French... But... for samples you mean instruments ? It's D:\Instruments (it's 7.03 gb big)
- No I have no other IK Multimedia library or program
- Program Files (x86) seems to be a program files to put all 32bit software because I have 64 bits windows. It contains a lot of things like my webcam software, Guitar Pro, all Microsoft softwares, games, etc...
-The software is installed in D:\Program files (x86)\IK Multimedia\Miroslav Philarmonik

What I thought is maybe to uninstall it and reinstall but to put it in D:\Miroslav Philarmonik ?
Would maybe solve the problem if I put back instruments in there ?

OK, that clears things up a bit. it is the original Philharmonik ("MP1").

But, again, why is the program installed on the D: drive. Why are you not using the C:/ drive for the software? My suggestion below should only be followed if you know what you are doing and may not work for programs that are not on the C:/ drive.

--------------------
Let's get the sounds library sorted out first. On your D:/ drive:
-- create a folder name D:/IK Multimedia
-- drag your D:\Instruments into it
-- and rename D:/IK Multimedia/Instruments to D:/IK Multimedia/Philharmonik
-- you should see sub-folders for Brass, Choirs etc
-- start the standalone Philharmonik program, choose the D:/IK Multimedia/Philharmonik folder in its Preference settings and make sure you can load and play the instruments.

Now, for Cubase (and the standalone Philharmonik) not keeping the Sounds Library location:
-- that location is stored in a Preferences file in C:\Program Files (x86)\IK Multimedia\Miroslav Philharmonik\Preferences
-- Windows 7 onwards (and Vista) prevent user programs modifying files in various folders (including Program Files, Program Files (x86), Windows) and Registry keys.
-- so you could load MP1 in Cubase and change the path but that path will not be written to the file on disk.

The workaround is to run your DAW "as Administrator":
-- right-click the .exe file,
-- select "Properties", then the [Compatibility] tab,
-- tick the "Run this program as an administrator", then click [OK].
Then when you select the path again, the path change should be written to disk.

Note that "Run this program as an administrator" is not the same as logging in using an Administrator account.

After you are happy that the path is remembered, you might be able to uncheck that option.

Hi again,

My C: is my SSD drive of only 120 Go... It's not enough to put what I need on it (Window, Cubase, some softwares, etc..) AND vst so it's on my 2 To hard drive

But you solution worked perfectly. All is fine now when I launch Cubase, the path is the right one !

Thank you so much DarkStar =) !
