Edited instruments not loading correctly...!

Major problem with ST 4.0.7 (and 4.0.6). I worked for days converting Logic Pro songs from ST2/ST3 to ST4... loading lots of legacy instruments and tweaking them to try and match how they sounded before. Everything seemed fine, closing and reopening projects. Then the next day none of the edited instruments load correctly. They are super quiet and I can't see any reason why. If I load the unedited instrument it sounds fine. This so frustrating. I downgraded to 4.0.6 but that didn't help. SampleTank is once AGAIN unusable - can't believe it. Any ideas what could be going on? Thanks.
