VU meters moving but no sound from instruments [Resolved]

Postby DZibman » Mon May 27, 2019 3:25 am

Hi - When I add a Miroslav Orch VST to a track, I see a white VU meter moving, but no sound is being played. This just started happening. Not sure why. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi DZibman and welcome to the forum.

Can you give a bit more detail please. Things such as DAW/OS and audio interface and the steps you've taken so far would be helpful for someone to give you some advice. Also, which version of Miroslav are you using?
System Specs: 2012 Mac Mini 2.6 i7 & 2015 MBP 2.2 i7, 16GB RAM
macOS10.15.7 Logic 10.6.1 Reason 11
Various IK, NI, Waves, Softube, Eventide, XLN software
Focusrite 18i20 x 2, Novation ReMote 25SL

Hi -

REAPER 5.70 / x64
Windows 10 v.1803
i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Mirislov Philharmonik 2

I haven't really done anything as this just stared occurring. It will sometimes play a note or two in the first pass, and then nothing on subsequent passes. It was working fine before and I don;t know of any changes I have made to anything that would have prompted this.

I have tried various instruments within MP2 thinking it might just have to do with the range, but it doesn't matter which instrument I use. My other VST instruments work fine.

I'll guess that is it a problem with the routing in Reaper or the presences of MIDI CC events

Can you upload a small problem project somewhere (the Reaper Stash perhaps)?

Hi -
Just uploaded - https://stash.reaper.fm/36453/05-26-19% ... roslav.rpp

Track 1 has Miroslav as instrument (Only some notes are triggered). Tracks 2&3 have Arturia (they work fine).

Thanks for taking a look.

The routing in Reaper looks OK.

I see that the piano notes are on MIDI channel 3. Just to check: is the piano instrument set to MIDI channel 3? And its output to 1+2?

You might try the VST edition, rather than the VST3 one.

Also, I would remove the unnecessary MIDI CC messages from the start of each clip.

If I load MP1 onto the track it plays OK.

What are the MIDI CC messages? Not sure where to find that?

Thanks!

Dark Star -
Thanks for all your help. Changing to VST instead of VST3 seems to work.
Another case solved!

Appreciate it!

Time to consult the Reaper User Guide :). You can show them in the MIDI Editor in the controller lanes underneath the piano roll, or by changing the view to View Mode: Event List

Reaper (and other hosts?) seems to be a bit variable when dealing with VST3. But, in any case, please report this problem to IK Multimedia Technical Support so that they can investigate too.

You can raise a Support Ticket, here:
http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/mi/
for some one to one help (US (East Coast) Business hours, generally.
