B-3X: Question about choosing a Model Tonewheel

Postby leee1102 » Wed Apr 20, 2022 3:49 am

I like the fact that there are just so many options for fine-tuning the Hammond B-3X and get it sounding exactly how you want it. But sometimes I'm just overwhelmed by all the choices.
In particular, I'm not sure which Model Tonewheel to use, for the most authentic B3 sound.

The choices are 1971 A-100, 1960 A-100, 1956 B3, and 1955 B3.
Were the A-100 tonewheels used in the B3, or is that a different Hammond organ altogether?
The only difference I noticed is that it changes the tone (EQ) slightly, with some giving it more high end.

So any suggestions from the B3 experts in which model they prefer?
I know it comes down to personal taste, but I'd like to know if others have a specific preference?
Thanks!
