YOU BEAT ME TO IT! :O)

My guess is ...

I install MP2 from my Product Manager.

I then install the MP2 CE Sounds (3 of 3 files). This gives me MP2 CE? (I'm guessing the MP2 programme is the same basic programme for both versions, just CE has less sounds and instruments?)

I then run the single MP2 CE sound updater file?

So you do have a "Products" tab (under each main product) :)

And, as I suspected, it shows MP2 CE. And you have access to the 3 Sounds download file and 1 Sounds Update. That all sounds good to me. And the info in your User Area / My Pruoducts is consistent with that.

So, what you have said is correct: starting from scratch you would
1 Run the IKPM, in the Software tab, go to MP2 and Install it
2 It should get Authorized automatically.
3 Switch to the Sounds tab, go to MP2, select ... More Options and select (Install to" to pick the destination folder
4 If you have SampleTank 3 installed you should select its sounds library folder, otherwise create a folder named, "SampleTank 3" on a local disk (mine is L:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3) and select that one
5 If the sounds (download and) install then starts automatically then make a cup of coffee; if not, then click "Install" to start it.
6 When done, download and install the Sounds Update.
When all done, close the IKPM.

Run the MP2 standalone program, configure its audio and MIDI settings and set its Disk path to the SampleTank 3 folder.

And, yes, MP2 and MP2 CE are the same software. The difference is the number and extent (number or articulations) of sounds available in each.

Sounds good! I'll report back in a while...

I have Sample Tank 4 with ST4 CS sounds (just installing now) so assume that's OK to use instead of 3 ?

Nope.

MP2 instruments are in SampleTank 3 format. And, as far as I know, should not go into the ST4 library.

I don't have ST3 and it's not in my Product list....so should I just load the MP2 sounds into my MP2 folder?

Hi dave158

As @DarkStar says, I would probably steer away from putting them in ST4 folder except as a last resort.

In theory the installation will be to a default location, unless you're putting them on a secondary disk, so it may well be that it creates the most appropriate folder for you.

4 If you have SampleTank 3 installed you should select its sounds library folder, otherwise create a folder named, "SampleTank 3" on a local disk (mine is L:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3) and select that one.

Also, what MP2 folder did you mean?

Users/Me/Documents/IKMultimedia/Philharmonik2

or I also have

Users/Public/Public Documents/IKMultimedia/SampleTank 4

I have to say - this is THE most confusing and un-intuitive software I have ever used...!

Yes, it can be a bit confusing. The IKPM (IK Product Manager) is intended to remove some of the complexity but it's early days.

Users/Me/Documents/IKMultimedia/Philharmonik2 is for various miscellaneous files, including user preset (I think)

Users/Public/Public Documents/IKMultimedia/SampleTank 4 is for the SampleTank 4 Sounds Library

4 If you have SampleTank 3 installed you should select its sounds library folder, otherwise create a folder named, "SampleTank 3" on a local disk (mine is L:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3) and select that one
As you do not have ST3 installed, I would create "Users/Public/Public Documents/IKMultimedia/SampleTank 3" and use that.

Have a look at this FAQ
https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1239
for the ST3 library folder hierarchy.

I am glad that you have got it sorted out.

Before we mark this thread as "Resolve", perhaps you can summarise the steps you took to resolve the problem. That info could help other users with a similar-looking problem.
