# X-Drive pedal "Bricked"?

I have bought a second hand X.Drive pedal. In the pictures on the web, the pedal was working, when I receive it turns on but alla LEDs and Digits are on and it disply displays “8888888888”
It cannot enter DFU mode to recover firmware in the X-Gear librarian, so it seems completely “bricked” and unresponsove…somthing happended during transport?
Any hint on hot to bring it back to life? Any secret trick s or switch combos to restore it?

I was able to connect it to both my Mac and PC but only intermittently and wasn’t able to enter DFU and reflash firmware…I have tested everything but it really seems bricked…

That’s the risk when buying second hand. IK is very strict with second hand products. The seller usually has to purchase a license transfer in order to get a new number to sell the item. If not, then the buyer can not register the item.

After a whole day of testing, trial and error, I think I finally fixed it.
These pedals seem to use a common main PCB with a black daughterboard mounted in the middle, which appears to handle the DSP for the different X-GEAR models.
My guess is that, during shipping, the daughterboard moved just enough to lose proper contact with the main board, although occasionally it still made contact. This would explain why the pedal sometimes showed up as a USB device, but only for a few seconds.
I simply removed the black daughterboard, reseated it properly, and voilà: the pedal booted normally again, USB connectivity is stable, and it’s fully alive.
So if anyone runs into similar symptoms — stuck display, random boot behavior, intermittent USB connection — it may be worth checking and reseating that daughterboard before assuming the pedal is bricked.

Fully restored now. I have removed the black daughterboard again and very gently brushed its contacts with isopropyl alcohol. As new.
