# TONEX brown sound question

This is just a question for anyone familiar with the 3 TONEX brown sound add-ons. I listened to several demos and concluded the sound is really best suited to Van Halen licks which is not my preference. Are they versatile enough to use for other purposes too?

Well, yes. they are VH inspired tones. But I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to use those tones for other hard rock type tunes. Just don’t play VH licks and you should be fine. They are just tones.

I also have all 3 products and they sound great! The only issue is that each preset is named awkward so you’ll have to decipher what preset goes with what song for those eras. I wish there was a spreadsheet that shows what presets go with each song.
