Let’s get the Amplitube 6 hype/rumours going. It’s been over 5 years since Amplitube 5!

I’m curious to see if this will ever happen, given I haven’t seen many meaningful, non-ToneX-related updates in recent years (my bad if there were some I missed); ToneX seems to be their big focus. I’ve reported bugs in A5, but all support really has to offer me is “do a clean installation.” I 've reproduced the same issues on both a 2019 Intel i5 MacBook Pro A5 and a brand new M5 MacBook Air; it crashes so often for me that I tend to reach for other plugins. I really like ToneX, but I prefer fully modeled amps/pedals.

If they do an Amplitube 6, I would love to see a ground-up rebuild:

1. Somehow incorporating ToneX into the modeling process.

2. More curated component selection: IMO, A5 has some great models, but quality varies greatly. Strip things back to the best of the best.

3. Input gain calibration: This is a big one. Obviously, we should be able to adjust input gain to taste, but a standard should be established. Currently, many models need substantial clean boosts to sound correct.

4. Output limiter would be nice to have.

5. Harmonic tremolo: I just love this effect and don’t have one 😃

6. Longer IR support: I have cab-with-room IRs upwards of 1000ms.

Strengths in the current version:

1. Routing: I’ve never seen any guitar rig software with the routing flexibility A5 has.

2. Cab section: Similar to above, I really like the cab section flexibility. Maybe some curated presets for sweet spots / mic combinations would be a nice-to-have.

They seem to have abandoned the Amplitube model. It’s too bad. So many other companies are improving their amp models that I think IK just gave up.

I think that too. I wish they’d just make an updated plugin that utilized the times equivalents. But kept them natively. It’s a bit buggy in Amplitube.

They might just go GENOME and integrate TONEX into modeled amps, so that they can capture distortion but do modeled tonestack.

I think Amplitube is slowly morphing into TONEX. Doesn’t make sense to have 2 platforms where you can focus on one product and make it compete with all the other companies.

I also think that Amplitube and Tonex will probably merge in a single project in the future. And the future might be sooner than expected given the crazy sales they were having on Amplitube abd Tonex in the last months…

[AmpliTube 5 is 29.99](https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/at5/?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=promo) speaking of crazy sales. Though I’m only connecting this because crazy sales were mentioned. Nothing else 😉

For those of us who prefer a non-bloated Amplitube adding Tonex is detrimental to our workflow. I would just prefer Amplitube 6 thank you !!

I don’t think so. They are two totally separate technologies that address two totally separate use cases and solutions.

I own both AT5 max and ToneX max. Quite frankly, I don’t like ToneX that much and the capture technologies. It’s mostly based on prepared and premade capture tones but I personally like to dig in and experiment and tweak and mix weird things together and see what tones I can get. I like doing it all within an encapsulated VST3 plugin environment which AT5 offers.

Yeah, I know you can load ToneX captures within AT5, but it’s still not the same like for instance taking a 80s solid state amp, connecting to a 60s marshall 4 x 12 cab, changing the speakers, and then throing around various pedals and rack effects and gain staging it and tweaking the tones in a mixer and seeing what comes out the other end and could it be a musically usable and interesting guitar tone to use in a DAW. Thats the beauty of using AT5 for me.

Little tip and hint for those who are into chasing new sounds with guitar sims. I still use AT4 as it has featues that IKM took out of AT5. The advanced options allow you to control and disable oversampling and control how reverbs and rooms are emulated which is actually useful when chasing tones for lo-fi and electronic music.
